About Bepanthen globally

Bepanthen's history

Bepanthen was created and launched in 1944 in Switzerland and has been led by Bayer since 2005. In 2007, Bayer began launching several products for babies that have been specially developed for baby’s needs and contain no preservatives, colourants, and fragrances. Today, global brands of Bepanthen® have established themselves as trusted brands, especially in Europe. We are committed to developing formulas that are both effective and gentle.

Our key ingredient: Provitamin B5

Over the years, our scientists have harnessed the power of dexpanthenol, otherwise known as Provitamin B5, which we use in majority of our products. This substance, nicknamed the ‘skin vitamin’, helps to aid the natural recovery of the skin.

At a cellular level, Provitamin B5 is rapidly turned into pantothenic acid, which plays a key role in the coenzyme A. Coenzyme A plays an important role in many cellular processes.

Some ways in which Provitamin B5 can help including the following:

  • Supports the production of lipids in the skin
  • Protects superficial skin
  • Increases the moisture retention of the skin

In short, Provitamin B5 gently aids natural skin recovery, while keeping it soft, smooth and moisturised.
